This gentleman was taking close up shots of the barnacles on one of the groynes at the beach. Few people are safe if they have a camera, I always want to talk to them! It was his first time at "my" beach, he said it had a lovely energy. Sadly word seems to be getting about and even on a blowy chilly October day, it was a struggle getting a car park space. I suppose half term didn't help.
Anyway, after chatting away about some good photo opportunities a little further along the beach, I asked if he would mind if I took his photograph for my 100 Strangers Project. He v kindly agreed, despite looking a little perplexed, and his friend also agreed to be featured. Unfortunately I made a total hash of that shot as his friend had his eyes shut at the wrong moment, so I won't be putting that one up. I liked the way this one turned out more than my other attempts of this afternoon, so here is a stranger rather than my dog!
They were visitors to the area and English wasn't their native language, but I am useless at accents - they may have been French. The English are renowned for being eccentric though, aren't they!
@marlboromaam I've been v lucky as I haven't had too many rejections but when someone does refuse I want to abandon it altogether. I'm only brave enough to ask if we've been chatting for a while or they have approached me in the first instance - my dogs are great conversation starters!
How right you are, dogs, cameras and binoculars, all great conversation starters. “What’s your dog’s name? What have you seen???” The man looks really kind too, even if a bit bemused…xx
