No need to comment, this is a demonstration picture for Kathy @randystreat of my extremely basic set up for taking water drops.
It consists of one small lamp with a flexible neck, a clothes peg for securing the object to be refracted (or for angling against a bold background to get refractions in its droplets), a spray bottle, coloured card/paper for backgrounds if needed, and a collection of small vases to prop paper in position.
Camera used was a Nikon D40 (not fancy at all), a Kenko 2x teleconverter, a Micro Nikkor 55mm prime lens at f3.5, and two small close up screw on lens, one at +1 and one at +2.
@randystreat Hi Kathy, instead of trying for flower refractions, try playing with a stiff sheet of patterned paper, it's much easier to get the 'feel' of things this way. Try if possible though to avoid getting refractions in two drops only, go for one or three + as two can look like a pair of angry eyes:) Hope this helps, have fun! Felicity
Thanks for sharing! love that you prop things on various things to hand, I'm pleased i'm not the only one! Never though of the peg, that will save some sellotape :)
I thank you so much. I will remember this and try it again soon. Looks so simple. Now did you say you used anything (like sugar or glycerine) in your water?
@randystreat Just water. Meant to get glycerine but never got around to buying any. If you use a spray bottle on a fine mist you may have to wait a minute or two but you will get drops forming. Have fun!!
