when i moved to california from the midwest, my hair was long, straight, undyed and boring. a few months after living here, i got restless and cut myself a bob. a few years later, on an impulse strengthened by a dare, i went even shorter to a pixie. a "boy" haircut. and i loved it.
that dare taught me a lot. i felt DIFFERENT after i chopped it all off. braver. at the same time, i felt more detached and more closely connected to the image i projected to the world. it was interesting to note the different sort of attention i got with extremely short hair. it made me curious to understand the way our culture seems to value hair as an identity marker... particularly for women.
anyway, this shot reminds me of a head-shaving shot gigi took a while back. and i was just admiring her pixie the other day and feeling a little jealous...
change is in the air... perhaps a change of hair...
I haven't cut my hair for 25 years lol, before that the only time I had my hair bob short was when I was nine, I was so self-concious about it and my father cried :) then when I was 16 my mother came up behind me and snipped off the end of my pigtail because it looked 'untidy', I was fuming, I mean how rude!
now I just let it be.
I am sure you would look mighty fine with a pixie
I change my hairstyle every year or two and others retain their schoolgirl style all their lives! Give me change and challenge to hear, " I don't like your hairstyle at the moment" any day!
Love this so much!!! Great take on the theme. I had a bob all throughout growing up, and so now I'm enjoying the freedom of letting my hair grow nice and long :)
This is a great fun shot! I love the processing. I like to experiment with my hair too! Pixie didn't go well for me, so I stick with the inverted bob for now. I live with the notion that it is just hair and will grow back, why not have fun with it.
If I could get over having human hair other than mine attached to my head...I'd have had hair extinctions by now lol
This is a lovely story telling...yesterday left winding shot
Totally clever
I have done that, grown the locks then chopoed them off, quite a few times over the years, it is a great feeling & so much easier to manage. Brilliant dof
