the folded arms stance is a form of non-verbal communication; it could be a signal that a person is distant or defensive, anxious or insecure, although the context of the whole body language should also be read for a more definitive conclusion. folded arms with the shoulders tucked forward could be anxiety, with shoulders straight it could be read as distant.
