Although it looks like a minor misdemeanour, Putting a stamp on a letter with the monarchs head upside down, is still on the UK statute books and is considered to be an act of treason, and carries a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment.
So my next post on fiveplustwo may be of my prison cell. (do they allow prisoners to have cameras?)
It could be worse I suppose, the act of treason was first introduced by Edward III in1238, and at that time, the punishment was public disembowelling.
In 1352 the punishment was upgraded to being hung drawn and quartered, which remained in place until 1870 when it was reduced to just hanging.
This was only reduced to life imprisonment in 1998.
geeze , thats a bit extreme, you would think the contents of the letter might be more concerning. I suppose it used to be a secret mark of anti-monarchists and they were concerned with flushing them out
Pay attention to Kathy, she knows stuff about prison rules (luckily not the hard way)
