Through the 11th Century Arch

The well preserved Norman tower at Bury St Edmunds is four stories high. I wonder what the view was 1000 years ago. Pity Henry V111 didn’t leave the abbey intact. Still at least there are plenty of ruins, a lovely garden and a wonderful new abbey.
