Icy Edge by gardencat

Icy Edge

I have a small heated bird bath in my garden to supply liquid water on those cold days when everything else is frozen. The birds and the squirrels often come to drink but yesterday there seemed to be some sort of party going on. After a lot of birds drinking a few of them actually decided to jump in and take a bath. In the frigid temperatures I worry about how they will dry off and will their feet stick to metal objects if they land on them?

I'm sure they alerted all their friends!

Maybe they are members of the Polar Bear Club. You know those crazy people that take a swim on bitterly cold days.

Love this and the fact that you have a heated birdbath. I wanted to get one but my husband wouldn't agree. Great capture, especially with the snow and ice. fav

@lynnz I was a bit hesitant at first just because the bird bath is made of an ugly green plastic which doesn't add any artistic appeal to the garden or the photographs but, in the end, I decided that having the water for the birds was more important than my aesthetic sensibilities. They did have a prettier one but it was beyond my budget.
