Oh No! by gardencat

Oh No!

Not good. Several reasons this is not a good thing:
a) Skunk.
b) My yard.
c) It's daylight.

Skunks are usually around at dusk or dawn, not during the bright hours of the day, so this unusual behaviour is sometimes indicative that the animal may not be well.

You can bet that I'll be on alert before walking around my garden for the next few days.
Oh - I do hope he's OK.

do you have wildlife rescue organisations there that could assess him?

@koalagardens Not that I know of. We do have a local humane society and I know they will care for dogs and cats and bunnies but not sure how they deal with wildlife. I know that the local public health people are very pro-active when it comes to possible rabies cases in wildlife so, if I see him(her?) out in daylight again I will could call them, I guess.

Oh thats not your common or garden pest is he ?
Haha, you need a long lens to capture him really.
Re. your comment about my ISO, your Sony should perform just as well.
Switch it to manual, select your aperture and a suitability fast shutter speed, and put your ISO to Auto. Then try some challenging subjects, I think you might be surprised with the results.

From the tiny thumbnail view (if that's the proper term for the small photos of the pics you've posted lately) I thought it looked like a skunk in this picture. He looks to be a big, robust character. Sure hope he's not ill. They're such great hunters of insects and small rodents.
