I once again pulled out my tripod to get some light trail photography going. Been years since I did a shot like this, and I have to admit, it was kind of fun, although I did not get spectacular results. A few people walking by looked at me a little strange, since it sprinkling and cold out, but who cares about a few funny looks, when you're learning a craft, right?
It's best to use a tripod, and if you don't have one yourself, I would ask around to see if one of your photog friends can live without theirs for a week or so. Chances are they can. I also recommend you check out http://digital-photography-school.com/ Join the group, and open up a can of learning. There are all kinds of emails and articles available there on just about anything you can think of for photography, post-processing, and equipment/gear.
