A little bit of history by gilbertwood

A little bit of history

On my way to Melbourne i stopped in at Camperdown to photograph their Post Office. About 10 years ago, Australia Post sold off most of their post offices, but the Camperdown residents fought the closure of theirs and won the fight! It was built in 1836. We don't have a lot of history around so it was a well worth fight. Sadly now, Australia Post is doing another lot of cost cuttings - hopefully Camperdown will continue their battle! And yes, it was raining!

Stunning post office. They don't build them like that anymore. Great shot, love the pops of red. Hope it stays open. Canada Post is in financial difficulty as well.

@darthkitty @lyndamurphy @lealady @tjchapa @kathiecb @terryliv Thanks for lovely comments and noticing the pops of colour- of course the letter box is always there, but I have to thank the relentless rain for the lady with the brolly & trolley for walking past!!
