Today (Saturday) I convinced some friends to come for a drive to Tower Hill as I had seen so many animals on Friday. However we had to walk a fair distance today to find the emu and chicks, but worth the walk. Yesterday they were in the car park! The chick on his own is quite lighter and doesn't have the same pattern as the others. After our walk we enjoyed our picnic basket of nibbles and champagne :)
Although I took many photos again today, I still prefer this one from yesterday...but same subject!
Not sure I could get that one in my oven Denise, a lovely family capture and a FAV from me. I wouldn't really put it in the oven, perhaps spit roast it.
@thresheg@gigiflower@seattlite@rosiekind Thanks all for great comments and avs. i really appreciate it :) @radiogirl@hermann@girlie@darthkitty Thanks every one for wonderful comments. I had great times just watching this family and my friends were pleased I made them come out with me on the 2nd day :) @hellie@lindacarol Thanks for terrific comments. I'm pleased to be able to share one of Australia's icons :) @cejaanderson@mbemis@eyesmile@lynnilou@janiskay@etchasketch1@anazad511@pyrrhula Thanks all for great coments which help make it to the TP. i thoroughly enjoyed being with this family and being able to get up so close :) @ladymagpie So pleased your oven isn't big enough!! And surely too cold over there for a spit roast now! Thanks for the fav too :)
When we visited Uluru with some Australian friends, I began the assent and thought better of it. Ken and my daughter's did it...I stayed below with my friend, Joy. An emu came to greet us as we were sharing cookies, and...well...I shared...and shared...and shared! That probably wasn't emu health food, but what fun to have a shared moment or two or three!
Lovely family shot Denise. On thinking about it, you see shots of Emu
adults and you see shots of Emu chicks. But I can't recall seeing pics of half grown Emus. Maybe they just go from chick to adult overnight.
@fjmom@junep@milaniet@cindymc@bella_ss Thanks for lovely comments. The chicks certainly are cute and fascinating - could spend ages watching them. The male who cares for them was not worried about us until Di laughed loudly which startled him and he then stood up to us! Time to leave :) @nanm@lealady So happy to share our Aussie icons with you :) @tjchapa@kathiecb@smileclicksnap@moviegal1 Thanks. They certainly have a lot of growing to do, but as Poppo said, we never see the juveniles. So where do they go? @Weezilou Your manners are excused! You must have been happy to see this shot, so that's ok! Feeding the emus is not really a good idea as they can become quite aggressive and demand food or whatever is in your hand - including your camera!
