Damn, these wings are heavy!

Had fun on the beach today despite the overcast weather! Watched this cormorant try to take off amongst the seagulls. He finally made it :)

Cormorants always seem to have trouble getting airborne, but once aloft they are grace itself. This is such a great shot of the bird taking off. The gull seems to be trying to get out of the way.
