This is one of the many attractions along the Great Ocean Road that is close to us. It is a natural open cave that can be explored down into it. My old work mate and I were looking for some inspiration after attending a young colleague's husband's funeral. Two years ago we attended their wedding set on the cliffs near their house on the coast (not too far from here) He was tragically killed in a car accident and leaves the colleague with a 3 month child. Such a tragic waste of life.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friends husband, How tragic. :(
Beautiful shot, I just googled how long it would take me to get there, I love a good drive down the great ocean road... Too bad I'm at the other end, so It would take me around 3.5 hours to get there.....
Lovely photo but such a sad story. Do people still write a letter after a bereavement? My nana instilled that into me. I'm sure your friend would appreciate reading your fond memories of their wedding, and perhaps enclose a print saying this was where you went there after the funeral to reflect.
This is a very interesting scene. When I first saw it, I thought about how I will probably never get to visit Australia, but I am able to each day through 365, and that is a real blessing. I want to tag my sister as she has a special interest in caves. @mbemis
I also want to comment about the sad story you have related. I can't imagine the sorrow that everyone must be experiencing. It is amazing to me that even though some people have short lives, they leave a legacy for decades to come. I'm sure this will be more evident for your dear friends as time goes on.
Denise, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's husband. Sometimes life can pound us like the sea pounds the shore and we may feel like we're trapped in an underwater cave. I hope she's able to find strength to rise above the waves and darkness and find joy in the sunshine.
@julzmaioro@flyrobin@macromover Thanks. This is just one of the many amazing sites on the G.O.R and I will post more of them this year. @leestevo Thanks Lee-Ann. Take your time doing the G.O.R as there are so many sites to explore. Are you coming through to Warrnamboool? Would love to meet a fellow 365er if you are. My email address is pbdawood@gmail.com @susiemc@0 years on - time to re-visit! Thanks @elishajae Although it says 3.5 hours - that is only the driving and not stopping at all the beautiful sights! Best done over 2 days :) I'm in Warrnambool - where are you? Thanks for your kind words. @hermann@thresheg@gigiflower@ethelperry Thanks so much for your kind words. it was such a sad day and i can't stop thinking of the girl and her baby son - fortunately she has a lot of family support around her.
. @essafel Thanks Sally. I have already written a card of reflection and offering help. A photo would have been a wonderful idea. They were asking every one to write their memories of Andy to put in a time capsule for the baby so one day he could read what a great person his dad was. I thought this was a wonderful idea. @cejaanderson Thanks Jane. It was such a sad funeral but a wonderful tribute to his short life. They were doing a time capsule as I mentioned above and I'm sure it would have been very full by the end of the day. They lived in a small community 45 kms from Warrnambool and he had grown up there too so was well loved by all. And yes, this 365 site alllows us to travel the world so well - and I see so many things i would dearly love to visit :) @mbemis Thanks for those beautiful words of sympathy and relating it so well to the ocean. i think you should be a writer as well as a photographer :) @eyesmile@thistle@janiskay@ladymagpie Thankyou all for your kind words on this tragic day. Going to this spot did help us find some peace. @seattlite@lindacarol@craftymeg@elisasaeter@desertaura@pyrrhula Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughts for the day. It is a wonderful place to find solitude and I will return soon and climb down the stairs for photos from the bottom angle. @ceilidh Thanks for the big hug Margaret - I just received it this morning :)
@milaniet Thanks Milanie. I too feel so sad for all the families affected by this tragedy, but at least they have each other and live in a close knit community that will support each other.
what a fabulous place to live and i must get down there again one day ..the shipwreck coast has so much beauty and history....a sad story about the young family Denise...
First of all, it's just a beautiful scene. How lucky are you that you have such natural beauty close by. But, I'm so saddened to hear of your friend. How tragic.
@gilbertwood Hi Denise.. we are leaving for the Great Ocean Road tomorrow. We did the GOR about 8 years ago in winter, places stayed were Apollo Bay, Warrnambool, even saw snow at the Otway. This time we want to stay at different places - Port Campbell, Portland, then straight to South Australia. So I wont have time to meet you, which is a shame...sorry :-(
I was there in 1994. This picture brings back happy memories and an urge to return one day.
