Yesterday there was a confirmed sighting (video) of a southern right whale at our Logan's Beach. So of course I went there today hoping to see my first whale for the year - and beat Lee-Ann Stevenson who is in SA, to the first sighting :) Alas, I could not see one, but luckily I had my glass whale with me to help look out to the ocean! Maybe tomorrow :)
Beautifully composed shot Denise. You are lucky to be able to see these wonderful creatures, even if not the first of the year. There are billions of people, me amongst them, who would never see a real whale during all their lives.
@sangwann Yes Dione, we are so fortunate that they come here annually to have their babies and stay about 3 months! Of course every year is always different - quite a few or none :)
Fabulous composition. Must nip up to Barry Park or Birubi and check out the whales soon. There is a white humpback whale called Migaloo who travels up the coast each year too. Last season he was spotted in Port Stephens by a friend of ours.
Way to go, Denise! Ever the optimist, you came prepared to make the best of the photo opportunity! What a lovely piece of glass...I love buying beautiful blown-glass pieces when I find something pretty as this!
Love this whale!! What a beautiful blue and he's doing a great job of watching for you!! Beautiful scenery and I hope you get to see your wale FIRST!! LOL FAV!
