Pink island by gilbertwood

Pink island

Our "penguin" island turns pink for a few weeks each year when the pig-face blooms brilliantly. It was hard to try and capture this though and I tried many different places. Finally i think this shows it at it's best with more pig-face along the roadway as well :)
Amazing.

What a beautiful display.

At first glance I thought you'd perhaps added some sort of pink filter to the image but closer examination proves that Mother Nature has worked her magic here. Pretty!

@hermann Yes it is something that grows well here, but sadly only has a very short flowering life span!
@jporcaro @wendyfrost Thanks! The waves were crashing well so I was trying to time a wave and no cars on the road at the same time :)
@irene111 You'll have to let me know when you're heading this way! Warrnambool is at the end of the G.O R and I live only 1 hour from the major sights (12 apostles etc) My sister and I did all the road only 2 weeks ago but didn't photograph these sights as we often do little day trips there! I'll have to post some more for you! Would love to meet up if possible on your trip :)
@karlow75 Sadly it only looks like this for 2-3 weeks!
@francoise Love your description :)
@lyndemc Thanks Denise. It is sooc :)

How funny, we have a visitor staying at the moment, and she was showing us this exact scene. Is that the penguin island in the background where Oddball was?
October 20th, 2015
@888rachel Yes Rachel this is were the maremmas protect the penguins on this island. Oddly (he he) none of the actual filming was done on the island!!
October 20th, 2015
