Photographer's dilemma! by gilbertwood

Photographer's dilemma!

There has been the most strangest occurrence this weekend at all 3 different beach sites I go to - the railings on the lookouts, bridge and breakwater are crawling with lady birds :) I can't explain it - are they migratory? Anyhow, I had to keep changing lenses to capture things I wanted and this is what happened when I placed my big lens on the railing at the lookout!!
Good grief.. I struggle to find any here these day's.. send some over.. great shot..

Amazing , they are thoroughly examining your lens for sure !! We also had a plague (is that the right word to use !! ) of ladybirds here in the UK quite some years ago --it only happened one season - but it was a sight ! and I was quite happy to think that they were devouring any aphids in the garden !!

That is certainly an unusual occurrence. Great shot though.

Neat shot, clarity, details...I wonder what attracts these ladybugs

Great shot. Fav.

They are checking out the lens. You would wonder what they are attracted to so close to the ocean :)

Wonderful to see so many ladybirds usually lucky to see just one. Great photo opportunity

Its almost as if they wanted to be the center of attention. Love the focus

Fabulous. Must be the time of year. The only time I have ever seen a plague of ladybirds was when we lived in North Wales many years ago.

Great shot. We had a similar event a couple of years ago. There were hundreds of ladybirds in my garden. It only lasted about a week and then they either died or disappeared.

Wow, that is strange, and lovely at the same time.

Great capture of an unusual happening !

Well that is strange especially at the beach! I have seen a few ladybirds in our garden today as I have been raking leaves. Nice shot though - Fav

I'm sure it's a good thing as long as it's a native species. This is a fabulous capture. Fav.

it is strange, but i can think or worse things to have a plague of.

Oh dear! But it does make for a great scene. We had these invade our house on Beaver Island one year. I was vacuuming up hundreds it felt like all summer long (they had come in during the fall, I suspect and then perished over the winter.

Hi, Denise....I don't know why I wasn't following you since I see most of your photos, but here we go....this is an absolute FAV!! Wild how they congregated on your lens....sometimes I see them on a leaf or a branch, but they are gone by the time I take out my camera! Great shot!

Super cool shot. I rarely see ladybugs at the beach but... if it's aphid time, then ladybugs are about to feast! Pretty wild experience though - cool!

Clever capture. Certainly a strange event.

I usually see some in the house during the summer and fall but not like this.

How amazing, we don't have so many up in Brisbane. I wonder why they are in such big numbers.

Great capture. Haven't seen that many together at one time.

Great shot, I remember a few years here when the same thing has happened here but don't know why it happens, but hopefully you will have less aphids.
