On Sunday I was at the Hopkins River mouth where it meets the ocean. Again it is closed (occurs regularly) but with high tide it nearly gets there! This shows you how close. And now after the rain, it is time for the eels to migrate down the river and out into the ocean. There were a few eels waiting to make the trek :)
@gigiflower They spawn up in the Coral sea, then the juveniles swim all the way back and up the river - even UP the waterfall :) @terryliv Fishermen catch them! They can wriggle across the sand, but this is usually done at night time.
