Welcome to my precious Isobel Amelia Fordyce who is the bearer of many family names! My daughter and her husband brought me to tears when they announced her name - my mother was Isobel, Amelia was my grandmother, and Fordyce has been in our family for about 14 generations :) I didn't think my daughter was going to carry on Fordyce (which she has too) let alone name her after my mother :)
Awesome photo. Congratulations on the new granddaughter. I was wondering about the name Fordyce when I first was reading. I was born in Fordyce Arkansas, so was thinking that might have been where the name came from until I read on. Again, congratulations.
@rickster549 I didn't know there was a town named Fordyce! It was a surname back 10-14 generations, but then two sailor brothers drowned at sea. It then was given to some of the boys, but my grandmother then gave it to her daughter (my mum). My older sister has it, but unfortunately she only had one son. When she realised that she wouldn't be able to have more children she asked me to carry it on - so I did to the mother of Isobel :) Thanks. @terryliv Thanks Rhoda :) Is Terry afraid of babies??
Dropped in for a look. Delighted to see latest addition to family. Beautiful baby. Congratulations to all. Great name - you can also add connection to 5x ggrandmother
Beautiful little Isobel! She shares my name, and spelling! Not often that happens!!! I wonder if she'll be an 'Izzy', an 'Issi' an 'Izzie' or always Isobel?! No matter. She's just gorgeous.
@jamibann How wonderful that my dear little granddaughter shares your name too and the same spelling! Not many people spell it "correctly" with the O :) We have discussed if Isobel will be called Issi and possibly she will be later on as we tend to shorten names - so I will definitely pass on your way of spelling Issi as I really prefer it to using z's!! Thanks for sharing :)
@terryliv Thanks Rhoda :) Is Terry afraid of babies??
