I'm waiting for my kiss!! by gilbertwood

I'm waiting for my kiss!!

You may think this is a strange title - but I was fascinated to see 9 magpies in one spot. This then made me think of the rhyme, one magpie for sorrow etc. So then I had to google what 9 were - and 9 are for a kiss :)
Here's the whole list if you're interested -
1 - sorrow, 2 - joy, 3 - girl, 4 - boy, 5 - silver, 6 - gold, 7 - a secret never to be told, 8 - wish, 9 - kiss, 10 - a bird you must not miss!
Definitely a capture for Lady Magpie @ladymagpie :)

We have a Magpie family who nest in our garden trees every year.....and who have some epic battles with the seagulls who nest on our roof, the wood pigeons who nest in another tree and the crows, who nest where they please...

I love that old rhyme - there must have been some good food options in that spot as you don't often see them like that!

Magpies like to hang in family groups, chics will often stay with parents and they all guard the nest.

A lovely image. Your magpies are similar to ours but different but equally handsome. We have a pair which visit our garden all the time. Thank you for reminding me of the rhyme, I couldn’t remember it beyond 4 for a boy.

Noticeing how their patterns are similar but a tad different just the same.
