Darfur

I have heard of the genocide in Darfur but reading James Patterson's book "Cross Country" made it much more real and disturbing to me.

The words you've chosen to frame sent a chill down my spine, Katy. I love the lighting, too. The overwhelming thing is that you've made me want to read the book. Brutal, unjust and horrific things happen all over the world and - as hard as it may be - I think we should learn about them. The more we learn, the sooner we as a race will come to realise that some things just should not be. An inspirational photograph, cariad.

A sad commentary on our times, and well depicted

@goleudy Diolch o galon, cariad. Of course the book is fiction but I can't help but feel some of what he wrote is too real. portions of it made me cry and made me very grateful for all the blessings I have in my life.

@peterdegraaff It is,Peter and I feel compelled to do something but don't yet know quite what it is. Perhaps to raise awareness through this community.

This looks like an emotionally draining book to read. I love to read and LIVE in the library, so this caught my eye. I may look for this one . . but I know it will be difficult. Really great framing for the words in your comment.

I have spoken to people who have family members who personally experienced the genocide in Rwanda and I recently read "Left To Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust" by Immaculée Ilibagiza... and I can tell you the fiction version has nothing on the truth. This is a powerful photo!

@karenann It was a bit draining. For me it is unimaginable that humans could be so cruel and not even care. i can't imagine how they think up the terrible acts, they commit. What was especially disturbing to me was grown men take orphans from the refugee camps and teach them to be just as evil while they are still young children. Thanks for looking, commenting and following, Karenann

@marilyn Thank you for your support. I hope it is seen by many and makes an impact on all. I remember first hearing about this when we were on a sister trip (I can't remember which one) and wondered why no one was doing anything. Now I know I am one of the "no ones" trying to change that a bit here today.

Oh yes. The words you framed up here are brutal and ugly. I have not read this book... maybe I need to. do you like it?

@espyetta It is fiction but I feel some of it is fact. I really liked the book but it was difficult to read at times because of the horrible things depicted in it.
