Inspired by my recent trip to Lebanon I decided to fix a Lebanese meal for my husband. After spending the morning in the store shopping for ingredients I got to work! On the left is the mixture for coosa, a meat and rice stuffed in zucchini dish that is cooked in a tomato sauce. On the right is the beginnings of tabouleh a salad with parsley, onions tomatoes and wheat bulgur, a touch of mint and lemon juice and olive oil! I also made hummus but the bread I can get here is not as good as the fresh bread I had in Lebanon.
@lesip It is not a great deal of work but more than I am used to because I first had to purchase it all and the ingredients are not something I keep on hand!
Nice composition! Was this the first time making these? How did it turn out? I've made tabbouleh a few times and although it was good, not quite the same as the original.
@deburahiru Thanks, Deb! I felt my tabouleh was about as good as what I had eaten in Lebanon! It is like any recipe I suppose never exactly the same twice. It tasted a little different in the different restaurants in Lebanon even!
Uhm, what a wonderful influence Ruth had on you. I LOVE Middle Eastern food; it's so good and healthy as well. Yes, the bread is not as good. How did it turn out? Delicious, I bet.
I am seriously impressed!!! So glad it turned out well and that you both enjoyed it!! Wonderful food shot, beautifully arranged, glad you had fun hunting, preparing and eating!
@ruthmouch It was a little different than you made because of the recipes and I will have to try and make my own bread I think because what we had just wasn't the same at all unless you can get one of those guy to come to the states and start making it here! ;~} Thanks Ruth for the comment and inspiration!
