"Increasingly, International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities."
While I did not take this picture today I feel it best represents the thoughts behind today's commemoration! These Syrian women, the one on the left and the one on the lower right, are illustrating acts of courage and determination just by living their day to day lives! They have left their homes and are now living in tent cities in another land while still trying to maintain a semblance of normalcy in their lives with their families
@marilyn@lindag@ellimae I want to thank each of your for your positive support of my shot and these women! I feel very strongly that we are united the world over by our gender with a tie that no man will ever be able to understand. It is what makes us the powerful force we are in the world!
Oh this is so very brilliant! That you for sharing this wonderful and powerful shot and words! I was actually reading up on Woman's Day last night as well :) I got flowers from the hubby in celebration :) And I didn't have to make him dinner :) How thoughtful of him :) hehe
Such beautiful women and children! It's hard to imagine what their lives are like in the refugee camps. I think everyone who shares their stories (and photos) helps change the world a little bit--and hopefully these women and children will someday live in peace.
