I grew up not knowing what a gardenia was or smelled like. 5 years ago l took a couple of starters from my daughter's garden. One is almost 5 feet high now and doing nicely in my yard but has never bloomed much. From that one I have transplanted several more, none of which have blossomed yet. This year they are ALL blooming like crazy. This branch that I pruned off the original this spring and stuck in my rain barrel in hopes it would root has even produced two flowers so far. My yard smells heavenly!
Wish you could smell it dad♥
What a wonderful photo and nice to have from your daughter as well. Sometimes it just takes time. I do not know what they smell like but have seen them in our neighborhood.
i used to take the flowers off my mother's gardenia when i was in grade school and put them behind my ears. then i would wonder why i was always sneezing! good for you the snips are all a-bloom. aces!
Well done with your your success story. I find cuttings so difficult to start off. I have also never grown a gardenia. I must get one for the garden. You have inspired me. Great shot!
I wish I could smell your garden. It's one of my favorite ones, and it reminds me of my grandmother.
Thanks for commenting in my pictures even if I am very behind due to lack of wifi.
