Before and After

My rain barrel is teeming with various stages of polliwogs. I seldom ever see the frogs they become but today one was casually sitting on the edge of the barrel and obliged me while l went to get my camera by staying there. The arrow points to his still present tail. That is my index finger for scale and in the upper portion of the photo is an even smaller cohabitant of the barrell. I can't find a tomato this small to make a frogmato shot!
Wow... so cool to see the two version in the same frame!

Good to put your finger there - can see how tiny it is! Looks like it might have been a tadpole an hour ago!

That's amazing to catch one that still has the remnants of the tail.

So marvelous. Reminds me of catching them in the irrigation ditches on Grandpa's farm!

What an awesome find, reminds me of my childhood! We used to have so much fun with them. Caught the little tadpoles in the river nearby and raised them at home. Obviously put them back again ;-)

Great comparison showing the beginning life of the frogs. I've seen tadpoles, but I don't think I've ever seen their transformation like this. But I was raised in the city.

I have never seen the in between stage except in drawings so this is really fun to see! I have seen millions of polliwogs though in one of the lily ponds at Grey Towers. I think most of them get eaten otherwise the estate would be overrun with frogs! He might fit on a grape tomato but even then the tomato would probably look monstrous next to him. Cool shot!
