Christmas Isn't Over Until After Epiphany

At least not at my house. The Twelve days of Christmas actually start on December 26 and end January 6...Epiphany. Then the decorations come down. Living in the South of the US most people take them down before New Years so I am the only one on my block with decorations still up. This is a little cotton boll angel l got from a gift exchange at work once.
She’s so sweet. My decorations are still up too. 😊

A lovely composition of this angel. Mine always come down 1st Jan but everyone is different. Enjoy the rest of time with your decorations .

same with catholic traditions in the old country. then (vatican) apparently changed it to the first sunday after new year's day. but my mother was unwavering in her belief in the epiphany so we have the decorations taken down after january 6th. frankly, i like january 6 as end of the yuletide season. it makes sense: gives you the respite to recover from all the food, relatives and partying. :-) your angel looks tired and cranky from all this holiday business, but she's pretty. i like it.

I leave the tree up until 12th night, and it's not unknown to unintentially find something still up in March!! We're off to an Epiphany themed party tomorrow and we all have to wear a crown. Guess tomorow's photo subject!??

I love the hair of this angel and how surprised he looks!!!

Beautiful cotton bill angel. I have one very similar, but without the beautiful hair.

@louannwarren Thanks Lou Ann. Mine are now down but not all put away yet
@sarasotab how was the concert Robert? I bet it was beautiful
@darylo so good to hear from you! you are granted a "bye" since you have so many health issues! Thanks Daryl♥
@ludwigsdiana I am glad you like it Diana. I will assume yours are down now since it took me so long to respond
@madamelucy thank you and I know you didn't mean have fun! ;~}
@mandygravil thank you Mandy for taking the time to make a comment and for your kind words. I agree everyone needs to do what is best for themselves
@summerfield l had never noticed that before but you are right. Maybe because of how her eyebrows are placed? I will try to find a less cranky one for you!
@gijsje l am so glad you like it bep. It is a good feeling to have it all done for sure
@30pics4jackiesdiamond thanks so much Jackie @summerfield thought he looked cranky but I can see what you see too. As for unintentionally leaving something up l think l do that EVERY year. Usually it just stays there until next Christmas!
@henrir thanks Henri. I think they are a staple of the South. I have made them with and without hair but l prefer with the hair myself
@Dawn thank you so much Dawn
@stacyjett I am so glad you like it. Thanks for the comment and the follow Stacy
@maggiemae LOL! She shouldn't be because she IS the cotton boll. she was plucked off the cotton plant and then turned into a little angel but I admit she does have a surprised look on her face. Thanks MM

She's very cute! I have no idea when my decorations will come down- I guess it will depend on my not-so-willing assistant!
January 9th, 2019
@olivetreeann thanks bunches. I just do it myself because it is easier than waiting on that very same assistant in my house! ;~}

@grammyn Most of the time I do too- but this year, I'm physically unable to get the boxes back up in the attic.
January 9th, 2019
@olivetreeann Aha! How foolish of me to have forgotten that.
