Serendipitous Squash by grammyn

Serendipitous Squash

someone who follows me asked what an acorn squash was. I just happened to have one that I hadn't cooked up yet so decided to feature it . I guess it gets the name because it looks a little llike an acorn without the cap
Sweet simplicity!

Wow! Serendipitous is right! I like the negative space around it.

It looks rather small to feed a family 😉

I love it and have one here I need to cook too. It will be my first after a friend made it and I loved it. Enjoy!

Great negative space. I haven't seen one of these before. We grew butternut but might have to have a go at some others.

Wonderful minimal photo. Acorn squash (and butternut squash) are both so good.

I like this lonely little squash all by itself.

Very nicely shot Katy, I really like that you made the squash the focus and didn't add anything else to the image

@olivetreeann @mcsiegle @wyomingsis @kwind @ludwigsdiana @darsphotos @mandygravil @louannwarren @henrir @gijsje @tunia @nicolecampbell @lesip @ruthmouch Deepest apologies for allow this one to go unresponded to for such a long time. l am so glad you liked my use of negative space for this one. The squash was about 15"/38cm. which is just large enough to feed the two of us Diana and Ruth. I just cooked it and sprinkled it with salt and pepper Leslie. Mandy,It is yellow on the inside and has a mild squash taste, and I recommend it. Some people cook it with brown sugar and butter which is also good
