Shooting Star

"A Mother Is A Shooting Star Who Passes Through Your Life Only Once. Love Her, Because When Her Light Goes Out You Will Never See Her Again."

When my mother passed away in 2015 I kept some of the fabric from her sewing room. From one piece of it I made enough of these stars to give to each of her children and grandchildren. This one hangs on my tree every year.
That’s a wonderful remembrance. I like the way you all have a common remembrance for your trees.

What a wonderful use for that fabric! I love the quote. Bringing a tear to my eye, thinking of my mom. So true.

the only thing i have of my mother is a "nipper" which she treasured as it was given to her by an aunt who loved and respected her. they're both gone now and even though i cannot use that thing, i hold on to it. being very poor, in my family, we could not hoard anything. dresses are re-purposed into pillow cases, the small scraps go with the fillings for a pillow, no matter how small. what i learned from my mother is sewing the little loops i put in the masks i sent you. i can't tie the ends as neatly as she did but it's one thing from her that i keep. you and my mother would've hit if off, you're almost ripped off the same soul. okay, i'm going to sit in the corner and cry now.

I've never thought of that. Great way to remember her.

EVen though she is no longer here she is still uniting us at Christmas time. It is a really great way for all of us to remember her and remain connected to each other as well! Thanks again

@summerfield I can totally identify with your mother and her penchant for using and reusing. I am deeply touched to have a little piece of her in your skill to make those loops and honored to be compared to her. I didn't mean to make you cry! ♥

That's brought a tear to my eye, in a comforting way. It was a beautiful and thoughtful gesture.

That's really special. I have some of my mother's ornaments and treasure them as well. Although we haven't had a tree up in years, there is one I pulled out and will place on the table as part of the decorations. My two favorites though are the angel that used to be on the top of the tree when I was growing up and the one my mother made for my fifth grade Christmas party. Sweet treasure!

@olivetreeann thank you, Ann. There are many decorations on the tree that she made which hold an equal importance on my tree. I have started marking them so someday my children will know which ones she made when they inherit them

@grammyn That's a good idea- one of these days I thought I'd take photos and write up stuff about my special ones too. With two "boys" it's most likely my nieces that will end up with the tree ornaments.
