Dogs shed, cicadas shed, geckos shed, cats shed, snakes shed, but have you ever thought about a tree shedding? There are actually more than I realized but this is my crepe myrtle shedding its outer layer of bark. I wish I had thought to take the photo before I stripped some of it away
@shutterbug49 That would be fascinating to read @randystreat I do too Kathy thanks @Dawn it is more like a snake in the way it sheds isn't it? @eudora I agree Diane thanks so much @ludwigsdiana you are too kind Diana thank you @30pics4jackiesdiamond LOL I wondered if anyone would be smart enough to catch that! @wakelys so nice of you to say Sue @louannwarren I haven't really noticed if that is the case in my yard Lou Ann. I will have to check. I like that this one is more like a tree than a bush @briaan I am glad you like it Brian thank you @annied l had never heard of those before. They look like the bark has more texture to me and l had never considered that crepe myrtles grew in Australia either
I’m not sure if I knew about shedding trees… it seems a bit familiar deep in my memory bank! This is a nice capture of the “new” and old. I really like that there are pieces of shed on the ground around the tree.
@marilyn for some reason I had forgotten about birch trees, which shed all the time and there were several others listed when I checked. I’m so glad you like this one. It really was more impressive before I pulled off all those pieces on the ground.
