These are scraps of yarn from the hearts I crocheted for my daughter's class and a few hats l have made. Instead of throwing them away I will be putting them into a mesh bag in the yard near my feeders and then looking for some very colorful nests in the spring!
really? Do the birds use them? Oh, you have to show me the picture of it if you find any and tag me. Hopefully I will remember what we are talking about LOL

@Weezilou apparently it is not as nice of an idea as I thought, as it can be dangerous for the birds. The threads can get caught around their feet and neck I’ve been told. However, I feel if they were cut in small enough pieces that might not be an issue.
@grammyn I had no idea! How good that we help one another on here! Honestly, I don't have yarn to a great degree, but I try to make the cat fur stick to a rough tree trunk for the hummers. I still like the idea of a mesh netting for them! Thanks!
While this is such a pretty idea, it may not be safe for birds according to the US Fish and Wildlife Service. https://www.fws.gov/story/helping-wildlife-while-avoiding-common-pitfalls#:~:text=Avoid%3A%20String%2C%20twine%2C%20yarn%2C%20dryer%20lint%20and%20pet%20hair&text=String%2C%20twine%20and%20yarn%20can,hazard%20if%20mistaken%20for%20food.
