Himalayan Balsam is a fairly recent introduction to the Lickey's and it is a highly invasive plant that smothers out lots of native species. As in many areas the Lickey Hills Rangers organise a regular 'Balsam Bash' at this time of year to try and control it's spread before it goes to seed. The kids love it as they get the opportunity to play in the woods, and destroy plants without being shouted at!
