This seems to be the story of my life at the moment. It was a dull, rainy and generally miserable morning. I hate it when it is still dark when you have to get up, but that is a different story.
I was 30 minutes late for work today, even when leaving nearly 15 minutes early, because of the never ending M5 road works. A 25 minute journey managed to stretch itself to last 75 minutes. Nearly (but not quite) a record. I have been breaking the monotony by trying to identify which lane moves the fastest. My conclusion? None. They all move fastest at some point, but overall you end up in the vicinity of the cars you started near. You may get lucky by doing some lane swapping, if you can 'catch the wave' but equally you could end up further back than where you started.
I had sat at this spot for nearly 10 minutes this morning, moving just a few metres in that time. Funny how so many cars still have their brake lights on - seems they are optimistic enough not to use the hand brake in case the traffic suddenly moves ahead and they will not be ready. I had to find something to do to break the tedium and luckily my camera was to hand so I took a few shots while channel hopping on the radio!
