Mom Skis by helenmoss

Mom Skis

Our all-time favourite family holiday is skiing and we're off to Austria today. Hooray! In anticipation, here is a picture of my trusty skis. I bought these from REI in Portland when we lived there several years ago and we were close enough to Mount Hood to go skiing every weekend through the winter.

The helpful salesman recommended these as the perfect 'Mom Skis'. Did he mean, I wondered, that they refused to set off down the mountain until everyone had been to the toilet, washed their hands and done their coats up properly? Patiently, he explained that these skis are the perfect combination of stability (for towing along a tired toddler while searching for the lost bag of sweets/spare gloves/tissues in the bottom of a backpack), speed (for keeping up off-piste with turbo-charged ten-year olds) and strength (for walking back up slopes to dig lost poles/skis/boys out of snowdrifts).

Over the years, the REI salesman has been proved right. Yes, the Mom Skis do have flowers all over them and the words 'Sweet Luv' down one side, but they have never let me down!
Never been skiing! Hope you have a great trip with your trusty skis!

I love your sense of humor! I need skis that keep me from falling down and that stop when I want to...I've only been twice and haven't quite mastered the turning and stopping and generally just fall down to be sure not to run into anyone.

I'm laughing, those REI guys know their stuff. Too bad about the Sweet Luv because that is just terrible; flowers I could live with but Luv? Mom's don't like misspellings.
