Ed will be doing two weeks of work experience starting on Monday at the MRC Cognition and Brain Science Unit in Cambridge. We did a dummy run of the cycling route today, doing our best to avoid all the graduation crowds. It was so hot (not that you can tell from the white sky here!) that we had to stop on the way back through town so Ed could run into Cafe Nero for a bottle of coke. We hadn't reckoned with a long queue of tourists paying for coffees with £50 notes so it took a while!
During one of my trips to UK I glanced quickly at the sign for one of these coffee shops and I wondered aloud why anyone would call a Cafe "NERD". Its become a family joke now.
