Old Man's Beard

Both boys had football matches today. This morning Ed was playing in Fulbourn, which gave me a perfect excuse to take the dogs for a walk along Fleam Dyke - a remarkable raised Saxon earthwork that cuts across the flat Cambridgeshire farmland for several miles. In the summer it was carpeted with wildflowers thriving on the chalky soil. Today it was cold but still with a hint of blue sky. Small birds were bustling busily in the hedgerows, giving the the merest suggestion of Spring to the late-winter landscape of buff and olive. I tried out the super-macro button on my new tiny little Olympus camera on these wild clematis seedheads (aka Old Man's Beard). They look like those tiny jelly fish you sometimes see in aquariums, with their delicate long tentacles pulsing gently in the water.
Three Good Things
1. Fleam Dyke
2.The smell of garlic wafting in from the kitchen - lamb
shanks cooking.
3.I've watched two football matches today. I'm going to go and read my book for half any hour just because I want to!
I love this macro shot of the Old Mans Breard the patterns are very effective.

Well, I never knew that! Old Man's Beard is really wild clematis! I can see it now! These do look like they're moving in water!
