Confused? We were!

What a treat! I had a scandalously decadent day. Off to London on the train with my two lovely friends, Helen and Tiggy, to see a play - Pinter's Old Times. First we had a stroll around Covent Garden, then lunch at Carluccio's, accompanied by a very delicious cold bottle of fizz (a bottle between us, I should clarify, not a bottle each!), then more or a stroll, a coffee, and then to the theatre in Panton Street. The Harold Pinter theatre is small and very steeply tiered decked out in a froth of pale blue and gold art deco frills - very pretty and grand. The play, was ... well, beautifully acted and started out with an intriguing mix of comic unease with a tense undercurrent of impending doom, but by the end it all went very strange and we had no idea what it was about at all. We felt it was all very symbolic and deep, but over our heads. We rounded off the day with tea and cakes at Patisserie Valerie and a train-ride home, which was delayed twice, first due to "mindless yobs" (to quote the long-suffering and exasperated guard who kept us informed over the tannoy) lobbing rubbish onto the track, and then to "abusive troublemakers" who had to be forcibly removed from the train by police officers in Hitchen. Fortunately neither the yobs nor the troublemakers were in our carriage so our lovely day out wasn't marred by such carryings on.
Three Good Things
1. A day out with friends
2. Coming home to a blazing log fire and a chicken in the oven.
3. Theatre, dahling, even if incomprehensible!
Sounds like you had a super day , Im not a fan of Harold Pinter I think the one play I saw of his was Abigail's Party ???

Hahaa - you should be able to put your hand up and ask them to tell you what's going on! Rachel's train was delayed by yobs being removed as well - 'in my day' of student travelling they just left them on!

Oh, I'd have liked to see this just because it's got Kristin Scott Thomas in! But I remember going to see the Birthday Party years ago and giving up!! Sounds like a great day, glad you didn't have to share the train carriage with the mindless yobs or the abusive troublemakers, wonder which are worse? (They could be team names on Egg Heads!!)
