Tea for Lunch by helenmoss

Tea for Lunch

Hot and getting hotter! There was a feeling today that the weather was about to break. Families were out picnicking and groups of newly-school-free kids partying along the river in Grantchester when I took the dogs for a walk this morning. Storm enjoyed showing off his water-bombing technique, only slightly letting the side down by trying to steak children's fishing nets (the bamboo handles looked just like sticks!). I had a few deliriously peaceful moments sitting in a deckchair at the Orchard Tea Rooms, with a cream tea (for lunch) and two wet and smelly dogs flopped under the table. Then I had to speed walk back in time to get to Radio Cambridgeshire studio to be on the afternoon Chat Room programme. The other guest was a young woman called Juliette Burton who has a fascinating comedy show called When I Grow Up, on in Cambridge now, and then at Edinburgh Festival next week. http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Whats-on-leisure/Choice/When-I-Grow-Up-20130531061012.htm
I'm annoyed I can't make it as it does look very funny, and I didn't get chance to ask her which Muppet she wanted to be when she was little, which I felt was the burning question of the day. Meanwhile, somewhere, a baby was being born I believe!
Then home to find out that Will and his mates are planning to camp at the fields without a tent and there's a monster thunderstorm on the way!
Oh I nearly went to Granchester Tea Gardens - invited by my neighbour - but they were doing a slow old lady visit and I thought Monty might not be the best company. You're practically a regular on Radio Cambs!

Congratulations on the new little Prince! One question: do you put the clotted cream IN the tea? Or on a piece of toast to go with the tea? Is it like butter?
