337 - I've seen several examples of tapestry work on this site over the last week, so here is an example that my wife produced.
We are regular visitors to the Isle of Man, after we fell in love with the island when we first went there in 1979.
My wife found this tapestry in a shop in York, and decided to buy and make it as a memory of our many visits. It is now mounted on a cushion, which explains why the image is slightly distorted.
The Laxey Wheel (also known as Lady Isabella) is a large waterwheel built at the edge of the village of Laxey in the Isle of Man. Designed by Robert Casement, it has a 72 foot 6 inch (22.1m) diameter, is 6 feet (1.83m) wide and revolves at approximately three revolutions per minute. It was built in 1854 to pump water from the mineshafts and named "Lady Isabella" after the wife of Lieutenant Governor Charles Hope who was the island's governor at that time. The Laxey Wheel is believed to be the largest working waterwheel in the world.
@gamelee - I can recommend a visit to the Isle of Man if you get the chance - a lovely place, very friendly people and great photographic opportunities!
@isleofmanlandscapes - it would be nice to see a shot if you do get to visit the 'Lady Isobella'. I'm hoping we may get chance to visit the Island sometime this summer, to refresh our memories of such a wonderful place!
Interesting narrative to accompany the image too.

Thank you Tanja - we have quite a few tapestries around our house, so more subjects for my project some time!
