Many of life's most happy moments take place around a table, and I found great joy this afternoon in arranging mine for dinner with loved ones. As I worked, blinding sunshine made its away around the glass-topped maple surface as if stopping to greet each treasured piece of my Pfaltzgraff Heritage Christmas collection; and we'll pull a high chair up alongside this year!
These dishes are old — nearly 40 years old. Pfaltzgraff introduced the pattern in 1981 and retired it in 2006. Thankfully, I can still find pieces for purchase here and there. I ordered a meat platter today after wondering why I'd lived without one for so long.
Here's to time-honored traditions and, more importantly, time spent with family gathered around.
