Thank you, Lord, for crown vetch — its pinkish-purple flowers beautifying the roadsides.
I know I'm not supposed to like this non-native, invasive plant. It competes with our native plants and often wins out. Planting swaths of native wildflowers along roadsides for beautification and erosion control fairly recently replaced the once common practice of planting crown vetch, and that's a good thing; but crown vetch still thrives in many places. It surrounds our roadside mail box, and I can't help but admire its wildly rambling blossoms.
