looks better large on a black background if you have the time or inclination.
Another garden shot. Spent the day yesterday trying to summon up some enthusiasm to clean the house as it was far too wet to do anything outside. I didn't exactly succeed on the summoning enthusiasm front but managed to get the place into some sort of order, superficially at least.
There was great excitement, well for me anyway, at the sight of a greater spotted woodpecker on our bird feeder. We do catch glimpses of them, but never so close to the house. He has been back at regular intervals since yesterday, taking large beakfuls of suet etc from the suet balls, presumably to feed young, so hopefully he is going to be a regular for the breeding season at least.
We often see green woodpeckers in the garden and the field, and seeing this greater spotted one reminded me that for the first few years that we lived here we were often visited by a green woodpecker who for some bizarre reason had paired up with a golden-mantled rosella which must have escaped from captivity. They were never more than a couple of feet away from each other and the woodpecker with his antipodean friend made quite a surreal sight. To be honest, I think that people thought I had gone a bit mad when I used to say I had seen them and I was relieved when I managed to capture them on video. If only I had had my camera in those days..................
Anyway, enough of the pointless reminiscences, a much better day is forecast for today, so it's time to don my gardening gloves and get outside. Toodle pip!
Gorgeous shot. Wonderful detail. I really like the monochrome effect. I notice you use a Canon 7D. I am looking to update , how do you find this canon body?
