I have featured Steve's allotment several times in my project. He used to have two whole allotments, but now that his three daughters have all left home last year he gave up one plot and the other is enough to keep himself and his wife Annie pretty much self sufficient in veg for the year. He grows lots of different pumpkins and squashes and here you can see some of them drying out a bit before being stored for the winter.
Went to our friends' last night for their pasty and a pint evening. Great fun, and of course we stayed longer than we had intended to. Carole is a fantastic cook and the home made pasties, served in waxed paper bags were delicious.
Lots of shenanigans about Angus getting home, mostly due to the buses all being messed up with roads in Stratford being closed due to the 'Mop.' He ended up getting the train and a taxi from Banbury. He sorted it all out himself when he realised that the bus was a non-starter. All good experience (tho I must admit it was a relief to hear that he was home.)
I have completely lost my voice today, but at least it is getting me a bit of sympathy with the boys and Graham. They have all been busy today with Graham and Angus building a new pig house and Sam carrying the logs that were delivered up the steps to the garden. I haven't done an awful lot, but did make a coffee cake which I was pleased with and went out to get some emergency wood supplies because Graham had underestimated how much he needed.
Watched 'Strictly' tonight. Best week so far. Dave 'Hairy' is my favourite. Shame he's crap. I also really like Mark, tho he isn't great and I am not sure how well known he is. The main reason I know of him is because he was in one of my favourite comedy series ever - 'Early Doors.' Not many people saw it, tho it was absolutely excellent, just not very well promoted by the BBC.
Wonderful wonderful warm autumn image, beautiful array of pumpkins ( not sure on the collective noun for pumpkins!). Love the lighting and wheelbarrow wheel peeping out. Fav
@maggiemae Not traditional Cornish ones Maggiemae, but three varieties - Beef, Pork and Veggie. And Steve, whose allotment it is spends a lot of time there.
Dave & Mark will stay in as they are both popular even if the dancing isn't up to much....I think Julian & Vanessa will be in the dance off.
Love all these colourful pumpkins & they look fabulous all piled up there ...don't know why I don't grow them just for this look!!
