Yellow tailed black cockatoo by jeneurell

Yellow tailed black cockatoo

One of the two yellow tailed black cockatoos in a dead tree in our frontyard. They had picked some bottlebrush of a nearby tree and were more or less pulling them apart - the bird looks as if it has a large seed in it's beak, but not sure. We often see them fly past, and occasionally in the birdbath.
Very cool bird.

Aren't they gorgeous, they are so destructive but I do love them.

What a great shot of this beauty, I don't think I have seen one before.

Lucky you to get one out in the open like that. We used to have them come to our garden when we lived at Mallacoota. The would break off spent banksias and eat them like an ice cream.
