This afternoon I went to an event in the ‘Walkie Talkie’ building on 31st floor which had wonderful views over the river Thames

@nigelrogers I recommend a trip to the top of the Walkie Talkie (20 Fenchurch Street) and you can pay to get up to the top but there's usually a big queue. Better value is to make a reservation at the restaurant or brasserie at the top
