End of one year by dates! The good, the bad and the ugly.
I have completed one year by the calendar and I happen to think that the calendar counts. In my ignorance I once posted a picture with a wrong date that put it before my start and counted as 1 of 365 but I personally go by the calendar. I am an accountant and dates mater.
This is a collage of some of my pictures as I learned more about photography. The first column is the good (all pp), the second is the bad, and the third is the ugly. The first row is my biggest problem which I have made great strides on - focus, the 2nd row is about subject matter/composition and the 3rs is animals (mostly my favorite Two). The middle picture is bad because I don't remember to remove distractions like signs (I'm getting better), the one of the ice coffee I am including because my mentor hates it, the focus ones speak for themselves, the animals the squirrel was almost out of the frame (a no no), the one of Two and I not well focused and neither of us looking at camera -just bad. I could do a bigger collage of my bad posts but the good thing is I think I do have more good posts especially recently. And that is thanks to all of you and a big Thanks to my mentor who has had the patience of a Saint. Thank you Saint Richard, @vignouse. So celebrate my true anniversary because I won't be here tonight I am eating out with a friend. But I will be here tomorrow! (you have been fairly warned)
Well, congratulations on the year; I like being able to celebrate multiple ways, so every different accounting method can produce its own congratulations.. I remember al these pictures! Isn't that funny. Enjoy your dine-out and get home before the snow (are you to get it as well)?
What a brilliant collage Joan, I started following you a few months into your project and I could see how far you've come without you having to make the collage, but that just proves it. Love how you've composed this, each one you know what worked, what didn't work and why. Fab. Fav.
Congratulations Joan. What a great effort. Some of these shots are amazing. And we all have our share of bad ones too. The great thing about this site is how much we can learn. And you certainly have a great mentor there too.
Congratulations Joan, so well done! I've not yet completed one full year but I will this year. I have to disagree about the sunset, it's still pretty despite the sign :)
@bella_ss Oh yes that is why it is in the bad category not for bad photo but my bad for not removing the sign. It was my first awareness of these things so I see it as part of my growth.
In France birthdays, anniversaries, fête days and the like are always celebrated on the eve of the event (so Bastille Day 14July is celebrated on the evening of the 13th) which is my excuse for congratulating you yesterday - in fact today because it was after 3 am when I wrote that!
The good news is, I get to congratulate again today - well done Joan and I just know that your second year is going to be awesome. Have a great evening out.
@vignouse I am more mad at myself for misposting that picture which threw things off but it is a picture of my dh and I couldn't bring myself to delete it. Boy can you tell year end is making me irritable. I can't wait till it is over. Now everyone knows I get mad sometimes. Ruined my sweet lie that I am a nice person. LOL Hope the dang stuff goes to the accountants today. But spent a lot of time tracking down and errant deposit. Bank misposted. UGH!!!! But everyone make mistakes.
What a clever idea. I love that you used columns (like excel) to showcase your progress. Thank you for sharing your mentor and for being a great mentor yourself! Fav for your creativity and description, well well done! Hope you have a lovely dinner.
What a fabulous idea for your 1 year anniversary (my year end date and # of photos was off by 2, so I know what you mean!) Can't wait to enjoy more of your captures in Year 2. (and when I have time, I'm going to steal your idea and make a good/bad/ugly collage of my own!)
Congrats Joan! Great collage to show off the year in a summary. Fun to see where we've come from and look forward to everything else coming from you in the future!
Joan, congratulations! Ending the first year is such an accomplishment and doing so with this kind of collage makes it even more impressive. I just loved how you were able to lay out each column and row (aha, an accountant -- it explains so much!) and walk us through your progress. I've enjoyed reading your interactions with Richard as well. Glad you are returning after your 24 hour break!
Congratulations Joan, I have enjoyed following your project and your comments on my project. Also enjoyed your interactions with your mentor Richard and have learned so much from the two of you.
Looking forward to another year.
Congratulations on your first year of 365! Learning something means you have to practice it- in photography that means you'll have all kinds of pictures to look back on. Good for you to show the whole span of what you've learned this year- and here's to year two and many more improved shots!
Congratulations Joan. Great collage. I remember the cat close up in your "good" column but I must have missed the moth/butterfly. That's an amazing shot
The good news is, I get to congratulate again today - well done Joan and I just know that your second year is going to be awesome. Have a great evening out.
Looking forward to another year.
