This is the second year that the Maine Botanical Gardens has decorated in lights for the holidays. It is magical. I wasn't up to it last year with my Bursitis. And this year a few other health issues have marred my year and kept me less that at prime energy and movement levels. I have been doing better but I thought maybe I would keep improving and next year I could tackle this. Then I thought who am I kidding this may be the year I can best get around. And if I could walk the whole thing I could just enjoy it. Well I walked most of it before my back and knee said enough. And Jane did the last loop on her own. It was spectacular. And I was so happy at how much of it I walked. ANd thrilled I didn't fall asleep behind the wheel on the way home. We stopped for a quick supper of clam chowder and salad. I didn't take my good camera as I have found walking very far with that just wears me out quicker. Instead I took my tablet and got a few good shots which I will bore you with.
So glad you talked yourself into doing this. I've decided now is the time to do what we want to do. This is just beautiful - and fabulous against black. Glad you got to enjoy it.
oh, i would love to have gone with you!!
looks like a wonderful place to visit at this time of year.
is it far from Bangor?
I understand about walking far with a heavy camera.
glad you got come colourful photos.
Well done you, Joan! It's so easy to talk ourselves out of something for no good reason beyond a petulant 'don't want to, can't be bothered' etc. The result was well worthwhile. Hope you've recovered.
Beautiful image. So glad you made yourself go out this year and pushed yourself to get the images. Fingers crossed next year you will make it all the way round 😊
hi Joan, my challenge for you this week is typology, put simply it is a collection of similar types of objects, but here is one definition from the web
Typology is the study of types, and a photographic typology is a suite of images or related forms, shot in a consistent, repetitive manner.
Gorgeous colour capture. - Sorry to hear about your knee and back pain. I can relate to knee pain having had one knee replacement already and looking at needing the other knee done soon although I want to put it off as long as I can.
It really looks de-LIGHT-ful! I was supposed to go with a photo friend to the Allentown Zoo tonight for their light and animal show, but we were snowed out! We'll have to try tomorrow or Monday. Glad you were able to walk what you did- it's a good feeling when you can.

you can do this by either assembling a collection of similar objects in one picture or making a collage, . here are some examples of what i mean http://thetypologist.tumblr.com/
and here is an online lesson about it if you want to think on it more. http://www.photopedagogy.com/typologies.html
