Rt 66 Kitch

These are remnants of a gas station/trading post along rt 66 outside Flagstaff. The Hopi Tribe was in the process of re-habbing them and the trading post but things haven't progressed much, yet. It was the Twin Arrows Trading Post.
Great find..interesting story!

Route 66 is a very interesting highway with lots of history from one end to the other This image does not surprise me and you captured it perfectly. By the way one of my favorite cookbooks covers Route 66. The recipes are as interesting as the route itself. LOL

@nanderson thank you, I love the stories about "The Mother Road". I also like the stuff that is left.

@nydelignorsk Thank you, the stuff, the culture, the things that get left behind often can have truly interesting stories. I will have to look for cookbooks now, thanks

@cgribben Thanks, The Navajo tribe now has a Casino across the hwy but it seems that the Hopi are trying to connect with the past, I think that I like the Hopi attitude better.

@joysabin You may want to check this out: "The Main Street of America Cookbook-A culinary journey down route 66" by Marian Clark. The recipes come from businesses along the route. With 328 pages there is something for everyone's taste.
