South Rim Hike by joysabin

South Rim Hike

Grand Canyon South Rim Trail. I wanted to bike this trail but a friend suggested to hike instead. So so glad that I did. The hike from Hermits Rest at the west end to the Lodge area is 7.8 miles. The experience was quiet and spiritual for me. The hike takes you right to the edge at times without 'lovely' crowds, so there is a true connection with this magical canyon. @ziggy77 The shots were all cell phone- I didn't carry my dslr due to weight. Mostly happy with them.
@megpicatilly Thank you, the middle one was our selfie for the trip. Maybe next time I will have to take a 'normal' selfie:)
@chard It was a much longer hike for me and only took about 5 hours-old ladies walk slow. I was very happy that I did it, the peaceful experience of being at the edge was amazing. Highly recommend getting there early, around 7am to start.
@miata2u Thank you a great deal. The canyon must be seen, if you can see the north rim too, so many less people.
@deborah63 Thank you, the length was a bit long but mostly flat. It is just so amazing.

@stephanies Thank you, that is called the Abyss. The trail takes you along that edge- It was one of the most amazing times I ever had at the canyon.
