A small unincorporated area of eastern Arizona. Stopped in to start my leg of a rescue dog's journey yesterday. I drove to Lupton and back to Flag and picked up Raiden, a lovely 1 year old Akita, who then went to a new home in the Phoenix area.
It seems that much of Lupton is withering away and soon may be nothing more than a rest stop along interstate 40. I hope that it doesn't disappear since there are many lovely things to appreciate about this isolated area of Arizona.
@gardencat Thank you, I am a small part of a team that helps relocate dogs to new homes. Lupton is a usual drop off and pick up point/station on the dog's journey.
It is sad to think of places closing down like this, I agree. It is happening here in some places too, thanks to large out-of-town shopping malls and internet shopping. You got a nice shot here with the refection in the puddle.
@deborah63 Thank you so much, I was kinda surprised to see the puddle, it is very dry in the section of the state.
@domenicododaro I agree, the Navajo Nation mostly surrounds the area. The commercialization of Route 66 has been both a blessing and a tragedy.
