Spring snow. We only got 2 inches in town but 4 in some surrounding communities. Mostly gone by noon but also not unheard of. Anyway, I'm glad its gone. I understand our snow total is 64.1 inches for the year.
This is for the tag challenge. My words were: landscape and museum. This is a walkway outside of the Museum of Northern Arizona this morning with snow flakes and rain drops on the lens too boot.
Oh, wow! Snow at this time of the year?! Funny, as I always thought Arizona would be hot and arid, but I guess in the northern areas, I can see that it would / could be cold enough to snow.
It is a complete surprise to me that you have snow in Arizona and we have none in Pennsylvania! Not that I'm complaining- in this case I'm glad all we're getting is rain. Good shot.
My geography knowledge is so lacking, but I too am surprised by seeing snow in Arizona in May. Is this a kind of micro-climate in one area? Or am I totally wrong about the usual Arizona weather at this time of year?
@jenp I'd let the Phoenix area have the snow if they wanted it. We at 7000 feet aren't truly surprised. It never lasts long and my dog just loved romping in the snow early this morning.
@olivetreeann Flagstaff is high desert (7000 feet) and I understand that 11 years ago, there was 4 inches around town. You can have all our snow if you want. I saw snow in PA in April but only once in the 11 years we lived there (near Oxford).
@gardencat Flagstaff is vastly different than Phoenix, they got about 0.06 to 010 inches. Since we didn't 'keep' our snow the Phoenicians won't be coming north to play in it. Flag is about 7000 feet and prone to all sorts of weather. There was a small tornado that touched down east of town on Tuesday, no damage since it hit ground in the middle of no where. Tornado are very very rare here and I am quite happy about that.
that sounds dramatic - the other people from Arizona I know are all based in Phoenix and will start telling us when the temperature is over 100F - and this year, it's not yet.

@golftragic Can't disagree but at least I can escape to the middle of no where quickly.
