Fires

Our trip north through California on our way to Oregon gave us a taste of the fires happening in California. The Dixie fire's smoke was blanketing the central valley with the visibility being less than 1.5 miles. I took with looking up one of the eucalyptus at a rest stop a north of Sacramento. This iPhone shot really doesn't show the thick brown of the sky and the taste of smoke in the air. The firefighters who are battling this one are nothing short of HEROES! Some of them have lost their own homes to this beast.
You captured some great texture here. Hope it's all under control soon.

@marlboromaam Thank you very much. Unfortunately this seems like a new normal. I read that there have been over 39K wild fires world wide this year, California has had 108 so far.

I saw recently that the Dixie Fire is the second-worst in California's history. It is horrifying how much is being destroyed.

Great pov and textures. The fires are devastating both America and Europe and we are unable to contain them.

@eudora @haskar The Heroes who are on the front lines with these fires so often don't get the spotlight that they deserve but many don't want or desire that type of recognition. I understand that the weather patterns are becoming more favorable to conditions of fighting this beast.
